Schaeffer's formula: BW (lb) = (Girth² × Length) / 300. Validated across breeds. Measure girth just behind front legs; length from point of shoulder to pin bone.
⚠ Consistency tip: About 32% of measurement variation comes from different observers. Always use the same person, same tape, and same technique each time. Measure before feeding, with the calf’s head up, on level ground.
